President Bola Tinubu has promised to raise the national minimum wage higher than the current N60,000.
This was one of the key resolutions reached on Tuesday at the negotiation meeting between the Federal Government and the Organised Labour .
The resolutions were signed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, on behalf of the Federal Government.
The Organised Labour on its part was represented by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and the President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo.
With the resolutions, Labour unions have agreed to meet with its organs immediately to consider the President’s commitment.
Meanwhile, the meeting was initially convened to address the ongoing nationwide strike action called by Labour Unions to request for a raise of the national minimum wage.
The outcome of the labour unions’ meeting and the conclusion of the president might bring the strike to a halt, sooner than expected.
