SCRAP HND TO STOP PROFESSIONAL WAR WITH BSC – OLAOPA

In order to end the unceasing professional war involving the Higher National Diploma, HND and University degrees, stakeholders have once again called for the abolition of the former.

The new call was made by the Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa.

Olaopa also asked the Technical and Vocational Education and Training sector to revisit the recommendations of the Conference of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in 2017.

Another stakeholder, the President, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Shammah Kpanja, corroborated Olaopa by saying that if the polytechnics must be attractive, the transition of HND to BTech must be welcomed.

He, therefore, said that the Nigerian polytechnics must offer BTech strictly for HND students while also noting that the certificate must be specialised.
