The economic community of west African states, Ecowas has allocated 14 million dollars to counterterrorism and humanitarian efforts in frontline states.
Nigeria president and chairman of Ecowas authority of the heads of state and government, Bola Tinubu made the revelation through his special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale as part of a one-year report highlighting the bloc achievements and challenges at the sixth mid-year coordination meeting of the African union in Accra, Ghana.
according to Tinubu, the bloc has also allocated 9 million dollars to assist refugees, internally displaced persons and asylum seekers.
he also mentioned that Ecowas would soon convene a special extraordinary session to discuss its future and it is exploring other funding options for its 2.6 billion standby forces.
