It’s my turn to be Speaker, says Doguwa

House Majority Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa has said it is his turn to emerge Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

Speaking while declaring his intention to contest the Speakership of the House, Doguwa said he has paid his dues and worked for the country and deserve to rewarded for his stewardship.

He said he deserved the same consideration that made Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila rise from being Minority Leader to Majority Leader and Speaker.

According to him, having served as Chief Whip of the House and the Majority Leader, he is the most qualified candidate for the position of Speaker.

He said: “I am a strong and committed party man and have stated it categorically clear in other fora that because of my absolute loyalty to the party, and my unflinching respect for party supremacy, my ambition will be predicated only on the condition that the party zones the speakership position to the Northwest Zone which is my immediate constituency”.

He added: “I am committed to working with my colleagues and all Nigerians to deliver on their expectations and to preside over the house to the best of my ability in the overall interest of the people.

“I have paid my dues; it is time to reward my stewardship to both the parliament and the nation”.

He described himself as “the Speaker that would see through the implementation of the Renewed Hope 2023-Action Plan for a Better Nigeria anchored by our amiable and tested President-Elect Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I would leave no stone unturned to galvanize the support of the House to ensure the actualization of the laudable programs and policies of the President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.

“I plead with my colleagues from the zone to extend to me as a privilege NOT BY RIGHT the same GBAJABIAMILA treatment because as the saying goes, “what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.”
