After a lingering back and forth with his predecessor, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said that he did not start governing the state fully until February 2024.
Recall that he assumed office in May taking over from Nyesom Wike, the governor explained that it has been difficult for him to stand on his own as the helmsman in Rivers State not until February 2024.
He spoke on Tuesday while inaugurating Egbeda internal roads in the Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
Fubara said since he started confronting governance fully in February, he had done remarkably well and earned the commendation of the people.
The governor did not give reasons why he did not start governing fully for the first eight months in office but he has been embroiled in a political crisis with his predecessor and estranged political godfather, Nyesom Wike.
Last October, he survived an impeachment plot by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Wike.
On two occasions, members of his cabinet loyal to Wike had resigned while the state Assembly has also been factionalised fuelling crisis in the state.
