NDLEA renews campaign against illicit drug use

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it would intensify its campaign against drug abuse in Lagos State.

The Media and Advocacy Officer of NDLEA, Lagos Command, Mr Mallum Musa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos.

He said the agency would ensure the campaign reached remote communities of the state to prevent the indigenes from being lured into illicit drug consumption.

Musa said a series of programmes would be organised for women and youth to enlighten them on the dangers of drug abuse.

“The programme will expose Nigerians to types of illicit drugs, their abuse, consequences, prevention, treatment, and care.

He said,” As part of the efforts to ensure the campaign hits its objectives, the agency has upgraded its forensic laboratory to enhance investigations and treatments.

“The forensic laboratory will support the agency’s drug investigations, which will enhance the campaign,” he said.

He urged all community leaders, religious organisations, institutions, and governments to join the agency’s move to rid the state of illicit drugs. (NAN)
