"I never planned to be a radio DJ," Sarah admits with a laugh during our interview in the VoiceFM 89.9 studio. "I was studying Mass Communication at UNILAG when I applied for an internship here. The job isn't without its challenges. "Sometimes I'm tired after a long day. Sometimes the playlist doesn't feel right. But the moment I put on that microphone and say 'Good evening Lagos, this is DJ Sarah on VoiceFM 89.9,' everything comes naturally."

Sarah's biggest triumph came last year when she won "Best Night Show Host" at the Nigerian Broadcasters Awards. "It was validation for all those years of showing up every night, of caring about what my listeners want to hear, of trying to create something special in those late hours."

What's Next?

Looking ahead, Sarah plans to expand her reach. "I'm working on a podcast series where I dive deeper into artists' stories. I also want to start mentoring young aspiring broadcasters, especially women. There's room for more diverse voices in Nigerian radio."
